Text messaging disclosures

Exactly what happens when a business that uses Missed Call Machine texts you — and how to stop it.

The short version

If you call a business that uses Missed Call Machine and they can't pick up, the business may text you back — once — to help you and book your job. Every text identifies the business. Reply STOP to end messages, HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.

Who is texting me?

Missed Call Machine provides text-messaging technology for independent home-service businesses (HVAC, plumbing, electrical). When you receive a text through our service, the sender is the business you called, writing under that business's name. Missed Call Machine itself does not send you marketing messages and never will.

How did I opt in?

By calling a business that uses Missed Call Machine. When your call isn't answered, the business may reply with a single text message identifying the business and offering to help with your request or book your job. Calling the business is your request for them to get back to you — the text is their reply.

What kinds of messages will I get?

Only messages related to your call or booking with that business:

You will not receive marketing blasts, promotions, or messages unrelated to your request.

How often will I be texted?

Message frequency varies. You'll only receive messages tied to your call or an active booking — typically a handful of messages around a single job, and nothing after it's done.

Does it cost anything?

We don't charge you for texts. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile plan.

How do I stop the messages?

Reply STOP to any message at any time to cancel. You'll receive one final confirmation text, and then no further messages from that business through our service. To stop messages, you can also email jon@missedcallmachine.com with the phone number that received the texts.

How do I get help?

Reply HELP to any message for help, or email jon@missedcallmachine.com.

Is consent required to buy anything?

No. Your consent to receive these texts is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services from the business.

What about my privacy?

Your phone number and message content are used only to deliver the messages you asked for. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your mobile number with third parties for their marketing. Read our full Privacy Policy.

Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
